Oyster Geek.com

Now most folks would say I should feel lucky because this is the view out of the window, as I stand at my prep table.  While that is reason enough to feel lucky, the real reason is because when the tide is out I can see where the beautiful Wellfleet oysters come from and get a chance to meet the people who raise them, sell them and eat them. 

That being said, I would like members and guests alike to feel free to send in websites that can be added to the fields at the top.  Share your favorite oyster bar, favorite oyster story, or photos at an oyster event. 

This blog will aim to be informative about oysters and the industry as well as share updates and changes on the site. 

This page is a work in progress and I am currently running a very busy kitchen on Cape Cod so my response to submissions will be handled as able. If I missed your event or your oyster bar (and I am sure there are hundreds) let me know I will get it on the site as soon as possible. I hope our page will be used as a tool when traveling or directing others to oyster destinations. 

 I hope that if you like oysters, you will like my site.  And please do not hesitate to contribute. 

Wellfleet has come to be the perfect place to launch the Oystergeek.com web site and blog.  I eat an oyster every day or almost every day and I do feel pretty lucky about that view too.

Mac Seafood on Cape Cod has dedicated a percentage of all oysters sold this year to  a fund to help crescent city oyster industry employee's who found themselves out of work due to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico from the Horizon oil rig that began at the end of April. 

Ways you can help. 

Purchase oysters from any Mac Seafood Market or enjoy oysters at either of Mac's restaurants. 

If you are not on the cape you can order delicious Wellfleet oysters from Mac Seafood online. 

 Ask your seafood wholesaler to check into purchasing their Wellfleet oysters from Mac Seafood. Speak with Alex Hay for wholesale seafood inquiries.
